Parent volunteer needed

Dear parents,

P3 Compassion will be going for a learning journey to Science Centre. We need one parent volunteer to accompany the class. Please let your child know if you are able to follow us for this learning journey as I will be asking the class about it on Monday. If more than one parent indicate their interest, we will just choose one and put the others on standby.

The pupils received the consent form for it today.

Dear parents,

The pupils received the Schedule and Scope for SA1 exams yesterday. Please sign the reply slip at the bottom, if you have not done so.

They also received a Survey for P1 registration (2018) form yesterday (pink colour). Please tick the box accordingly and sign the form, if you have not done so. For those who have a child coming in to P1 next year, please also provide the necessary documents.

Timestable quiz - Parents please sign and help your child revise

Dear all,

We had a timed timestable quiz today whereby pupils were given one minute to write down the timestables of 6, 7, 8 and 9 each. The pupils are bringing home their timed quiz results today.

Parents, please sign the quiz paper and help your child to revise the timestables that they are still weak in by getting them to recite it daily. It is very important that pupils memorise the timestables as this will help them greatly throughout their learning in Maths.

Please return the paper back to me tomorrow. I will re-test the pupils who did not get all the timestables correct at another time.

Swimsafer programme

Dear all,

We had our first Swimsafer session today at the Yishun Swimming Complex.

For those who forgot to bring your swimming gear today, please remember to bring it next time from home in the morning so as not to bother anyone at home to bring it to school for you.

The pupils are allowed to leave their school bags in the gym and they are given time to change into their swimming costume and eat in the canteen before leaving for the swimming complex.

Pupils are reminded to be careful in not leaving their belongings behind at the swimming complex.

If you are picking your child up from the swimming complex at 3.15pm, please inform me beforehand. Otherwise, the pupils will be released from school at 3.45pm.

The dates of the Swimsafer sessions are:
21 March, 4 April, 11 April, 25 April, 9 May, 16 May and 23 May.

Term 1 2017

Dear Students,

The school holidays are just around the corner. During the break, many of you may be spending more time online playing games or interacting with friends.  As responsible digital learners, it is important to practise the three Cyber Wellness principles. They are:

1.    Respect self and others

2.    Be safe and responsible

3.    Be a positive peer influence.

            Have you ever encountered cyber bullying or been cyber bullied before? Cyber bullies use hurtful and unkind words without considering how others’ would feel.

            Here are some tips to be respectful online:

-       Think before you post anything online (e.g. Is it true? helpful? Is it illegal? Is it necessary? Is it kind?)

-       Be courteous online, just like how you are courteous in real life.

            You can play your part to stop cyber bullying. If you see any cyber bullying, speak up! Ask the online bully to remove the hurtful content. You should also save any evidence of cyber bullying and tell a trusted adult immediately. Be a good friend and reach out and support peers who have been bullied online.  Be an ‘upstander’ by standing up for what is right!

I informed pupils about the words to learn for Science Spelling in Term 2 yesterday. No new Spelling list is given because the list given in Term 1 contains words for the whole year. Science spelling is on Thursdays.  If your child has misplaced the spelling list, please let him/her inform me.

You will be given a handout with more details on your roles and responsibilities closer to the date. Please let your child know if you are able to follow us for this learning journey as I will be asking the class about it tomorrow. If more than one parent indicate their interest, we will just choose one and put the others on standby.

We will be giving out consent forms to the pupils about this learning journey in Term 2 Week 1.
